Janet is the heroine of the Scottish ballad Tam Lin, and she will sass your face off if you mess with her.
No but seriously. She was inspired specifically by the Tricky Pixie version of the ballad. While some versions of Tam Lin mention her having blonde hair, others mention only her green kirtle, thus Janet being a brunette for my uses. And let's face it - if some versions call her "Margaret" and Tam Lin's name can be spelled like 50 different ways, we can deal with Jenny not being blonde, yes? ;)
